“Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Matt 11:28
I love bargains. Several weeks ago God brought Matthew 11:28 to my attention. I was carrying a big burden. I was either crying real tears or weeping silently and He said, “Come, give me your burden and I will give you my rest.” How’s that for a bargain? My burden in exchange for His rest.
So , in my mind I got a big box, put my burden in it, wrapped it in fancy paper, tied it with a big bow, carried it up the golden staircase, walked into the throne room and gave it to Jesus. When I was sure it was secure in His hands I walked down the golden staircase and entered God’s rest.
When I am tempted to take on the burden again, I tell God, “I’ve given the burden to you. It is now your responsibility, not mine.“ If I persevere in this, I enjoy God’s rest. He wants us to cast our cares upon Him because He truly cares for us.
